Rossall Point - 4th October 2009

After Saturday's wreck of Leach's Petrels off the north Fylde Coast, I was fully optimistic about my mornings sea watch off Rossall Point. The main reason for Saturday's wreck was the strong SW wind which by Sunday, had moved WNW. This therefore made the seawatching an anticlimax.

Highlights of a 2 hour seawatch - 5 Red Throated Diver flew south, 2 Red Breasted Merganser, Sandwich Tern flew south, 93 Ringed Plover, 18 Sanderling, 4 Eider, 3 Guillemot, Razorbill, 300+ Common Scoter, 32 Kittiwake, 2cy Gannet
